Rated third in an exhibition of international artists of the cultural association "Cercle des Arts de Paris" in Paris, 1996
A jury of active artists and art critics nominated the nude "Pour Iris" of Saad el Girgawi amongst 120 pictures and sculptures as one of the best. Especially striking about the water colour picture is the fact that it seems to be an oil painting at first sight. Girgawi’s explanation sounds surprising: "I did not stick to the rules of water colour painting."
Guest of honour of the 9th Cairo International Biennale, 2003
The Cairo International Biennale is widely regarded as one of major achievements within Egypt’s artistic and cultural community. Saad el Girgawi was guest of honour at the 9th international Biennale 2003/2004. His merits were explicitly pointed out in a certificate of honour: "His contribution emphasized the success of the exhibition". The exhibition included among others of Saad el Girgawi’s pictures "Humanity", "Pride" and "Inwardness" (see the pictures on the right and below). On the right you can see Saad el Girgawi and Faouk Hosni, Egyptian minister of education, at the opening of the Biennale.
